Julián Castro Endorses Elizabeth Warren for President
Julián Castro has officially endorsed Senator Elizabeth Warren for president. The former secretary of Housing and Urban Development endorsed the Massachusetts Democrat having dropped out of the race himself. Warren is currently in the top tier of candidates for her party’s nomination.
“Today I’m proud to endorse [Elizabeth Warren] for president,” Castro said on Twitter.
“Elizabeth and I share a vision of America where everyone counts. An America where people—not the wealthy or well-connected—are put first. I’m proud to join her in the fight for big, structural change.”

Castro also shared a video of him and Warren along with his endorsement. There was some speculation about whether Castro would endorse one of his rivals or wait until the party had decided. His decision is an interesting development as the first votes approach in the Iowa Caucuses.
While he gained little traction in the Democratic field, Castro has been widely discussed as a potential vice presidential pick. Though it’s far to early in the campaign for any official decisions, his endorsement will fuel discussion about his future.
