Donald Trump’s Policy On North Korean Nukes: Insult China
President-elect Donald Trump has responded to claims that North Korea will soon have a missile capable of reaching American soil by simply dismissing it. Trump and his team do not have a concrete plan on dealing with the rogue state.
“North Korea just stated that it is in the final stages of developing a nuclear weapon capable of reaching parts of the US. It won’t happen!” Trump tweeted following the announcement that North Korea is far along in a process of developing an ICBM.
North Korea and its young dictator, Kim Jong-un, have sought to develop a nuclear arsenal for many years. The country has had several failed missile launches but international experts now believe the communist nation will soon have missiles that could hit the United States.
China is North Korea’s only ally and it has used its influence to encourage the dictatorship not to make hostile movements. However, the last few years have seen more and more posturing from the state that still claims the right to the entire Korean peninsula. Trump decided to attack China on the issue.
“China has been taking out massive amounts of money and wealth from the US in totally one-sided trade, but won’t help with North Korea. Nice!”
Trump’s continued attacks on China will do nothing to help relations between the two world powers and may discourage the Chinese government from helping the US to deter North Korean nuclear weapons development.
