Maria Bartiromo Latest Fox Host to Issue Fact Check of Voting Machine Conspiracies

Several Fox News hosts issued fact-checks on their shows this week in response to a letter from voting machine company Smartmatic threatening legal action for “false and defamatory statements.”

First it was Lou Dobbs on Friday, then it was a guest host for Jeanine Pirro on Saturday. On Sunday, Maria Bartiromo played the same clip of a question-and-answer session with an expert on the matter on Sunday Morning Futures.

In line with Dobbs, who said merely that “there are lots of opinions” on the topic, Bartiromo’s introduction to the segment failed to note her own contributions to the rampant conspiracy theories regarding voting machines. Instead, she said vaguely that “we have heard concerns about both voting machines and voting software.”

Bartiromo then played a clip where Eddie Perez, Global Director of Technology Development & Open Standards for the Open Source Election Technology Institute, was asked about “the claims some have made” about Smartmatic, as she put it.

Perez debunked opinions that have often been said on Fox airwaves, saying, “I have not seen any evidence that Smartmatic’s software was used to delete, change, or alter anything related to vote tabulation.”

Bartiromo ended her show by saying that “that is where we stand right now,” and promised to “keep investigating.”
