Lindsey Graham: Steele Dossier’s ‘Golden Shower’ Claim Is a ‘Bunch of Crap’
Senator Lindsey Graham lambasted the controversial Steele Dossier about President Donald Trump during a hearing on the Justice Department’s Inspector General report. Graham used his opening statement as chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee to speak for more than 40 minutes on a variety of subjects, emphasizing the President’s grievances.
In a surprise to many viewers, Graham brought up the issue of Trump and golden showers. The Steele Dossier alleged that Trump had participated in that sexual act with prostitutes in Russia, though no concrete evidence was ever offered.
“Christopher Steele went all over the United States trying to get media outlets to publish this garbage,” Graham said. “The first thing is about the golden shower. About the sexual encounter that President Trump supposedly had in a Ritz-Carlton hotel in Russia. Let me tell you how I come to find out about Christopher Steele’s work product.”
“In December of 2016 John McCain goes to a national security conference in Canada and somebody tells him about the Steele Dossier and it’s bad and you need to know about it,” Graham said.
“And it gets to John McCain. John McCain puts it in a safe, he gives it to me and I read it. And the first thing I thought of was oh my God, one of two things. This could be Russian disinformation or they may have something on Trump.”
“If you read this document the first thing you would think of is they got something on Donald Trump. It is stunning, it is damning and salacious and it’s a bunch of crap.”
Graham seemed unaware of the rather odd mixed metaphor he’d used in dismissing the claims against Trump.
