Fox News Guest: ‘Republican Spies Might Strike Back’ against the Next Democratic President
A Fox News guest has warned that conservatives in the intelligence services could ‘strike back’ against the next Democratic president because of what the so-called ‘deep state’ is doing to President Donald Trump. Former CIA officer Bryan Dean Wright, whom Fox bills as a Democrat, compared individuals in the intelligence community to traitors working for the USSR.
“You know, Nancy Pelosi had said a couple weeks ago that all roads from Trump’s world lead to Russia,” Wright said.
“This is this hysterical thinking combined with this bureaucratic swamp-like thinking that they know best. Really, look at the implications of that. Think about the implication for a second. It’s that the American republic isn’t real. It’s that our democracy is a facade. That your vote, that mine, that everybody who’s watching this program, that their vote doesn’t matter. That’s the implication and that’s horrifying.”
Fox News host Ed Henry showed a clip of Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer warning Trump that if he attacked the intelligence community, they had ways to get back at him.
“That’s frightening,” Wright said. “Are we paying attention to how bad this is? I mean, my God, think about this. In the next two or more years when a Democrat gets into the White House, whatever year that might be, do you not think that the conservatives or the Republican spies might strike back? What kind of game are we playing?”
“This is incredibly dangerous. President Trump and Democrats have to understand together that this is a serious problem. Gina Haspel at the CIA has to get on top of it. We cannot play games with the intelligence community and that’s precisely what’s happening now.”
“And if we don’t, we are in big, big trouble. We become like a Pakistan or Egypt where we have these secret individuals behind the scenes who are unelected and unknowable deciding the future of the nation. That’s not what we are. That’s not who we should be.”
