Fox News Contributor Defends Trump on Ukraine: ‘We Don’t Impeach Anyone over Having a Dirty Mind’
Fox News contributor Andy McCarthy has defended President Donald Trump’s actions regarding withholding military aid from Ukraine. An ongoing impeachment inquiry is examining Trump’s apparent pressuring of the Ukrainian president to investigate Joe Biden and using the aid as leverage.
McCarthy was asked whether withholding aid could be a crime and/or an impeachable said. He said in this case it was neither and people needed to look at the context.
“There are gradations of behavior in every situation and there’s context of behavior in every situation” McCarthy said.
“Here you have to recognize that we don’t impeach anyone over having a dirty mind,” McCarthy said. “Ultimately, there was no aid that was withheld and we’re dealing in a factual context where the previous president actually denied all aid to to Ukraine.”

McCarthy went on to say that quid pro quos happened all the time in international politics, so it was no big deal.
“I’ve been saying from the start, this discussion of quid pro quo is really misleading because all foreign relations is quid pro quo,” he said.
“Countries don’t help each other out of fondness, they pursue their interest in the world and they exchange favors. Each side gives. That’s a quid pro quo.”
