Fox’s Neil Cavuto Blasts Trump: ‘You Don’t Prevent A Constitutional Crisis By Threatening A Financial One’
Following President Donald Trump’s threatening claim that the markets would crash and there would be a lot of very poor people if he were impeached, Fox News host Neil Cavuto ripped into the president for placing himself above the country’s interests.
“You don’t prevent a Constitutional crisis by threatening a financial one,” he declared at the end of Thursday’s broadcast of Your World. “But Mr. President, you guarantee both when your actions and words create that crisis or make people think that you’re hiding one.”
He continued, “Like when you say you knew nothing about payments to a stripper and a former Playboy model until you did, then explain your former lawyer Michael Cohen made those decisions until we heard on tape that you did. Just like you said you nothing about a Trump Tower meeting back in June 2016 that included your son, Donald Trump Jr., and some Russian officials. Then clarified that that meeting really wasn’t about dirt on Hillary Clinton., then it was about Russian adoptions. Then, clarified yet again that nothing came of the meeting of what you knew nothing, so there’s nothing to see here, move on.”
Cavuto would point out that the problem was that “we can’t move on” because “lots of stuff like that keeps popping up here.”
The Fox host, who has occasionally used his show-ending monologues to deliver scathing messages to Trump, then listed off a number of other instances in which the president has lied to the American people and dished out inconsistent statements. He concluded by saying that he knows Trump will call this “fake” but the implications of his actions are “very real.”
“You are so darned focused on promoting a financial boom that you fail to see that you are the one creating this moral bust,” Cavuto stated.
