On Day of Barbara Bush’s Funeral, Trump Complains About ‘Drugged Up Loser’ Before Hitting His Golf Course
The president began his Saturday like many before it — by being extremely online.
In a series of tweets that he later deleted and reposted because he spelled New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman’s name wrong the first time around, President Donald Trump whined about an NYT piece on his embattled attorney Michael Cohen while claiming one of the sources in the article is a “drunk/drugged up loser.”
The New York Times and a third rate reporter named Maggie Haberman, known as a Crooked H flunkie who I don’t speak to and have nothing to do with, are going out of their way to destroy Michael Cohen and his relationship with me in the hope that he will “flip.” They use….

It would appear that the president was referencing former advisor Sam Nunberg, who was quoted in the piece. Anyway, as you can see in the tweets above, the president raged on how the Times — and “third rate reporter” Haberman, who he totally doesn’t speak to (except he does) — were trying to get Cohen to flip on him. And while he doesn’t think Cohen will roll over on him, he doesn’t put it past the “Government” trying to get Cohen to lie and make up stories.
After pissing and moaning online about the possibility that his “fixer” could flip on him — why does everyone in the Trump orbit (including the president) just publicly assume Cohen is so dirty and guilty that he’ll blab about Trump’s criminal deeds? — Trump hit the links at his Florida golf course. This is his 109th day golfing at one of his clubs as president.

Meanwhile, as the president was getting in another round, his wife was preparing to attend the funeral of former First Lady Barbara Bush, who passed away on Tuesday. The White House announced earlier this week that the president was going to skip the funeral and go to Mar-a-Lago “out of respect for the Bush family,” stating that the added security of him attending would cause disruptions.
Now, of course, past presidents have skipped out on former first ladies’ funerals. It isn’t uncommon at all. But seeing a president lob personal attacks on social media right before heading to the golf course on the day the nation says goodbye to a woman most of the country admired and treasured? Yeah, that seems unseemly, no matter how you slice and dice it.
That is the thing with Trump, though. We’ve become numb to all of this, something Washington Post’s Philip Bump pointed out Saturday morning.

“Will be a beautiful day!” Just gonna leave that here.
Yeah, we’ve heard it ad infinitum — this is just who he is. This is what we got when we elected him president. But just because this is “who he is,” doesn’t mean we should just get used to it and just brush it off as “Oh, that’s just Trump.” This behavior isn’t normal, especially for a world leader.
