John Bolton: Trump ‘Has Problems with Women Leaders’ and ‘Likes to Talk’
Former National Security Advisor John Bolton has continued to reveal details about his former boss, President Donald Trump. However, his most recent claims may not come as a surprise to the President’s critics – that he has trouble with female leaders.
Bolton gave an interview to Sky News, a 24-hours news channel in the United Kingdom. He was asked about Trump’s relationship with former British Prime Minister Theresa May. The two were famously photographed holding hands.
“Theresa May is the kind of politician who says what she has to say. And there’s not a lot of small talk,” Bolton said.
“There’s not a lot of back and forth. That’s a personal style. Doesn’t come anywhere close to Donald Trump’s personal style.”
By contrast, Bolton said Trump is a ‘talker’ who ‘likes to talk’.
“My own opinion, and I can’t prove this, I think he has trouble with women leaders,” Bolton said.
He added that Trump also ‘had trouble’ with German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
“These are not substantive disagreements. These are personality issues,” Bolton explained.
“But because of the way Trump looks at relations with other leaders, he has enormous difficulty distinguishing between the personal relationship he has with the leader of another country, and the fundamental US relationship with the other country as a whole.
When Bolton was asked if Trump is sexist, he replied: “Time and again, we seemed to run into that difficulty.”
