Bernie Sanders Is Running an Ad in Florida Featuring Barack Obama Praising Him

Senator Bernie Sanders is currently airing an ad in Florida featuring former President Barack Obama. The 30 second ad uses old footage of Sanders with Obama and excerpts from a speech Obama made praising Sanders. It has already been described as misleading.

The commercial could easily be mistaken for new content from the former president, despite the fact that the sound recording is old. Obama has carefully stayed out of the Democratic race so far, but Sanders’ new ad makes it look as though he’s endorsing the Vermont senator.

Florida is a crucial primary state for Sanders and all indications are that he will perform relatively poorly. Many believe he has alienated Latino voters in the state with his comments about Cuban dictator Fidel Castro, among other issues.

Sanders’ new ad will likely generate significant discussion on social media and beyond. It has already received a critical reception, with some charging that it is intentionally misleading.
