Trump Baselessly Claims Puerto Rico Death Toll Is Dem Conspiracy To Make Him ‘Look As Bad As Possible’
Just when you thought you lost the ability to be shocked by this man.
After saying earlier this week that his administration’s response to Hurricane Maria was an “unsung success” and “one of the best jobs” ever done despite the massive death toll, President Donald Trump let his Twitter fingers do the talking, claiming that thousands of people didn’t perish in Puerto Rico from the hurricane.
3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico. When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths. As time went by it did not go up by much. Then, a long time later, they started to report really large numbers, like 3000…

…..This was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible when I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico. If a person died for any reason, like old age, just add them onto the list. Bad politics. I love Puerto Rico!

“3000 people did not die in the two hurricanes that hit Puerto Rico,” he wrote as the Carolinas brace for the landfall of Hurricane Florence. “When I left the Island, AFTER the storm had hit, they had anywhere from 6 to 18 deaths.”
He added that the official death toll didn’t go up by much until “a long time later,” when “they started to report really large numbers.”
“This was done by the Democrats in order to make me look as bad as possible when I was successfully raising Billions of Dollars to help rebuild Puerto Rico,” Trump concluded. “If a person died for any reason, like old age, just add them onto the list. Bad politics. I love Puerto Rico!”
We all look forward to White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ attempt to spin this at her next press briefing, whenever that will be.
