Donald Trump: Republicans Should Approve $2,000 Checks Unless They ‘Have a Death Wish’
President Donald Trump lashed out at congressional Republicans on Twitter on Tuesday, saying their unwillingness to issue $2,000 stimulus checks to Americans would harm the party. The president also slammed the GOP for defying him on the defense spending bill.
“Unless Republicans have a death wish, and it is also the right thing to do, they must approve the $2000 payments ASAP. $600 IS NOT ENOUGH!” Trump wrote. “Also, get rid of Section 230 – Don’t let Big Tech steal our Country, and don’t let the Democrats steal the Presidential Election. Get tough!”

Trump shared an article from The Washington Post explaining how Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell had blocked a proposal for $2,000 checks. The president has belatedly pushed for the measure despite long and difficult negotiations between Democrats and Republicans on stimulus which did not include payments of this size.
Earlier, Trump took aim at the Republican leadership, of which McConnell is the most senior member, writing: “Weak and tired Republican ‘leadership’ will allow the bad Defense Bill to pass. Say goodbye to VITAL Section 230 termination, your National Monuments, Forts (names!) and Treasures (inserted by Elizabeth ‘Pocahontas’ Warren), 5G, and our great soldiers [..] being removed and brought home from foreign lands who do NOTHING for us.”
….being removed and brought home from foreign lands who do NOTHING for us. A disgraceful act of cowardice and total submission by weak people to Big Tech. Negotiate a better Bill, or get better leaders, NOW! Senate should not approve NDAA until fixed!!!

Trump vetoed the National Defense Authorization Act last week but the House of Representatives voted to override his decision. The Senate will also have to vote to override the veto if the bill is to pass. Such a move would be an unprecedented show of defiance from the Republican-led Senate, but may be necessary to ensure continued funding of the military.
