Fox’s Brian Kilmeade Suggests Donations to Black Lives Matter Are Going to the Democratic Party
Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade appeared to suggest on Thursday that donations to the Black Lives Matter movement are actually going to the Democratic Party. The Fox & Friends host seemed confused about funding mechanisms for the group.
Fox’s flagship morning show continued its criticism of defunding the police and Kilmeade offered his interpretation of the connection between Black Lives Matter and the Democratic Party.
“If you click on Black Lives Matter, it goes to a Democratic cause called True Blue, meaning Code Blue, I’m pretty sure one of those organizations,” he said.
He seems to be referring to ActBlue, a payment processing system used by many progressive groups with links to Democrats. ActBlue is not, however, run by the Democratic Party nor does all the money processed by it go to that party.
“So anyone who’s supporting Black Lives Matter is actually supporting the Democratic Party,” Kilmeade concluded.
As some were quick to point out, Kilmeade may have been hinting at a conspiracy theory involving ActBlue, the Democrats and money laundering. In reality, donations to Black Lives Matter are not funneled to the Democrats nor is there a pool of money shared by the party through ActBlue.
