Trump Campaign Manager Mocked for Comparing Reelection Plan to Death Star from ‘Star Wars’
President Donald Trump’s campaign manager has been widely mocked for comparing his campaign strategy to reelect the president to the Death Star from Star Wars. Brad Parscale shared a gif on Twitter to illustrate the fire power of the campaign.
“For nearly three years we have been building a juggernaut campaign (Death Star). It is firing on all cylinders. Data, Digital, TV, Political, Surrogates, Coalitions, etc. In a few days we start pressing FIRE for the first time,” he wrote.

As many social media users were quick to point out, both Death Stars in the original Star Wars trilogy were destroyed by the heroic rebels. Parscale’s gif depicts the second Death Star, which was never completed and led to the deaths of both the Emperor and Darth Vader. It’s not clear who Trump is meant to be in this analogy.

Parscale responded to criticism by saying the media had given the campaign the name but he was embracing it.
“I didn’t give our campaign the name, Death Star, the media did. However, I am happy to use the analogy. The fact is, we haven’t used it yet. Laugh all you want, we will take the win!” he said.
This explanation does little to justify the analogy, however. The Death Star is most famous for being destroyed by a ragtag crew of resistance fighters. Parscale’s faux pas comes in the same week as Star Wars fans celebrated the blockbuster franchise on 4 May.
