Fox’s Brian Kilmeade Rips Mitt Romney for Bringing His Faith into Impeachment: ‘Has Nothing to Do With Religion’
Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade harshly criticized Senator Mitt Romney on Thursday for saying that his religious faith informed his vote in impeachment. Romney was the sole Republican to vote in favor of convicting President Donald Trump on one of the Articles of Impeachment.
In a Fox News interview, Romney mentioned his faith as a motivating factor. Kilmeade rebuked him for bringing it up.
“Please don’t bring religion…” Kilmeade said. “For him to bring religion into this …. has nothing to do with religion.”
“My faith makes me do this?” Kilmeade mocked. “Are you kidding? What about your faith and this case meld together? I mean, that is unbelievable for him to bring religion into this.”
“His faith,” Kilmeade said, making air quotes with his fingers.
“We already know how he felt. He gave a speech at 12 noon when it was candidate Trump how unworthy he is for the office. This was his opportunity to show it. To me, it has nothing to do with faith.”
Kilmeade’s co-hosts Steve Doocy and Ainsley Earhardt seemed uncomfortable with Kilmeade’s comments. Fox & Friends is a pro-religious and pro-Christian show. Earhardt wears her faith on her sleeve and the show often hosts religious discussion.
