‘Christianity Today’ Editor Responds to Trump’s Tweets Live on CNN Following Impeachment Editorial
The editor of Christianity Today responded to President Donald Trump’s tweets attacking his magazine in real time on CNN on Friday. Mark Galli’s Evangelical wrote an editorial in the Evangelical publication calling for Trump to be impeached.
Galli appeared on CNN’s New Day with John Berman to discuss the editorial when Trump tweeted about Christianity Today, calling it a ‘far left magazine’ and claiming it supported candidates who would destroy religion and take guns.
“The question is when does his behavior which is described as immoral accurately rise to the level where he’s no longer fit to serve office. And to me, we cross that line we the impeachment hearings,” Galli told Berman before Berman read him the tweets.
“Well, I suppose I can be complimented that the President thought it was worth commenting on,” Galli said.
“Naturally, I disagree with him on seven or eight different levels. His characterization of us as being far left is far from accurate. We consider ourselves and most people consider us a pretty centrist magazine in the Evangelical world. It’s factually inaccurate we’re far left.”
“We rarely comment on Politics unless we feel it rises to the level of some national or concern that is really important. And this would be a case. We wrote editorials about Clinton during his impeachment process. We wrote editorials about Nixon during his. This struck me as rising to that level and needed comment.”
