Democratic Senator Chris Murphy Says He’s Spoken to Republicans Considering Voting for Impeachment
Senator Chris Murphy told MSNBC’s Morning Joe on Friday that he has spoken to at least one Republican senator who is considering voting for impeachment, though he implied he’s spoken to more than that. The Connecticut Democrat doesn’t believe there’ll be a major shift, however.
“Have you spoken to a single GOP colleague in the Senate who’s even considering voting for impeachment?” MSNBC’s Willie Geist asked.
“Yes,” Murphy said.
“You have?” Geist said, sounding a little shocked.
“Yes,” Murphy repeated.

“Would you like to name him or her?” Geist asked.
“No,” Murphy said.
“How many?” MSNBC’s Mike Barnicle asked.
“It’s a small list. On one hand,” he said. “And by the way, I don’t buy this secret ballot thing. If there was a secret ballot there’ still only a handful of them who would vote to impeach this guy.”
