Syrian Dictator Bashar al-Assad Calls Trump ‘The Best American President’: ‘A Transparent Foe’
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has praised President Donald Trump for his transparency in a new interview with NBC News. The dictator, who has been fighting to keep power in his country since 2011, suggested Trump was an ideal enemy.
“He’s the best American president,” Assad said. “Not because his policies are good, but because he’s the most transparent president.”
Assad referred to other U.S. presidents: “All they are is a group of criminals who only represent the interest of American lobbies of large corporations in weapons, oil and others.”

“Trump speaks with transparency to say ‘we want the oil’,” Assad said, referring to Trump’s recent claims to have ‘secured’ oil.
“What do we want more than a transparent foe?” he asked.
The U.S. previously supported opponents of Assad’s regime but pulled its support of the Kurds in recent weeks – a move that has benefited Assad as he clings to power.
