Trump: I Won’t Let Gordon Sondland Testify to ‘Totally Compromised Kangaroo Court’ Congress

President Donald Trump has said he will not send Ambassador Gordon Sondland to testify before the House because it has become a ‘kangaroo court’. The President tweeted the accusation following the news that his administration had ordered Sondland, a key witness in the Ukraine scandal, not to appear before the House today.

“I would love to send Ambassador Sondland, a really good man and great American, to testify, but unfortunately he would be testifying before a totally compromised kangaroo court, where Republican’s rights have been taken away, and true facts are not allowed out for the public to see,” he said.

“Importantly, Ambassador Sondland’s tweet, which few report, stated, ‘I believe you are incorrect about President Trump’s intentions. The President has been crystal clear: no quid pro quo’s of any kind.’ That says it ALL!”

Trump is in fact referring to a text message Sondland sent, which is now the subject of an inquiry by House Democrats. Sondland is an important figure in the President’s alleged attempt to pressure Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden.

The announcement that Sondland would not be appearing before Congress came by surprise on Tuesday morning, just hours before he was due to answer questions in private.
