Arizona Governor Wears Nikes Two Days After Blasting Company Over Betsy Ross Flag Controversy
Somewhere, some Nike executives are very confused.
Two days after ranting at Nike for cancelling its “Betsy Ross flag” sneakers, Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey was spotted wearing a pair of the company’s sneakers at a July Fourth cookout.
Wow, @dougducey standing on principle wearing his Nikes for the 4th of July. #nikeboycott #Nike pic.twitter.com/NTU6kmpQc0

Ducey had taken to Twitter on Tuesday to announce he was yanking state financial incentives for Nike to build a $185 million plant in Arizona, bringing as many as 500 jobs to the state. In a multi-tweet rant, the Republican governor said he was “embarrassed” for Nike, chastised the company for having “bowed to the current onslaught of political correctness and historical revisionism, and said Arizona “does not need to suck up to companies that consciously denigrate our nation’s history.”
But Nike still provides the comfort and arch support Ducey craves, apparently.
Granted, being governor might not leave him much time for shopping. But if he was a real Republican he would have immediately set those Nikes on fire.
