Dem Congresswoman: ‘Tiring to Hear From So Many Sex-Starved Males’ on Abortion Policy
During a House floor debate on Wednesday, Rep. Norma Torres (D-CA) said she was tired of hearing from “sex-starved males” on abortion policy, prompting objections from a Republican congressman and a withdrawal of her statement.
Taking to the floor to discuss a federal spending bill, Rep. Ross Spano (R-FL) claimed the bill includes provisions that would weaken policies that protect against federal funding of abortions. The GOP lawmaker then said he supported an amendment to “strike the language that would halt this important rule and the other amendments that will restore pro-life policies to this legislation.”
Torres, meanwhile, just let it rip when she was recognized to speak.
“Mr. Speaker, it is tiring to hear from so many sex-starved males on this floor talk about a women’s right to choose,” the California Democrat declared, causing the Republican side to immediately grumble.
Rep. Rob Woodall (R-GA) demanded that Torres withdraw her remarks, which she agreed to do, but not without a parting shot.
“Contraception for women is not something that should be debated here,” Torres concluded.
