‘Morning Joe’: Disloyalty Is Running Rampant At The White House
MSNBC’s Morning Joe discussed a new article in the New York Times Tuesday morning outlining President Donald Trump’s apparent obsession with his poll numbers and lack of clear direction for his re-election campaign. The panel was taken aback by the revelations from inside the administration.
The article explained that Trump instructed his staff to lie about internal polling which reflected badly on him and that he has taken little interest in running his re-election campaign. Trump isn’t interested in formulating a re-election agenda or the campaign budget.
“The staff clearly doesn’t like him very much,” said Elise Jordan, a former aide to President George W. Bush. “Can you imagine?”
“The details of this piece,” Willie Geist said.
“The details of this piece if this had been about President Obama or President Bush,” Jordan said. “The disloyalty is running rampant in this White House. This story is yet another reminder.”
“We can overthink this,” Mike Barnicle said. “I have an answer to your question, what does he care about? He cares about himself. That’s all he cares about – himself. And every day is just an extension of a show that he has with set up villains. It’s either Joe Biden or it’s the Mexican government, whatever.”
“I’m wondering if in Washington, more people realize this. This is just a daily show that the President is obsessed with himself. Not the country, not any formulation of plans improve the country, not his goals for his administration’s first term, certainly not what would be a second term set of goals. It’s himself.”
