‘Treason!’ Trump Livetweets Hannity Accusing Andrew McCabe of ‘Plotting a Coup’
Remember how President Trump insisted that conservative media figures like Fox News host Sean Hannity don’t have any political influence over him after he essentially followed the right-wing pundit’s plan for declaring a national emergency? Well, on Monday night, the president once again live-tweeted Hannity’s show, this time quoting the primetime star railing against former Acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe.
During his opening monologue Monday evening, Hannity did what many other Fox News commentators and conservative talkers had done throughout the past few days — blasted McCabe and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein for allegedly discussing the 25th Amendment as a possible way to remove Trump from office. And, much like those other pundits, Hannity came to the conclusion that this essentially constituted an attempted coup.
“Many in the Deep State, well, they have other goals, as we report in our Hannity Watch on the biggest abuse of power corruption scandal in history and it’s much worse than we thought,” Hannity declared. “Look, for example, Andrew McCabe over the weekend admitting to plotting a bureaucratic coup when he was serving in the FBI before he was fired for lying and leaking some five or six times.”
It was obvious that the president was spending his Monday evening watching Fox News, as moments later, we got this tweet from Trump.
“The biggest abuse of power and corruption scandal in our history, and it’s much worse than we thought. Andrew McCabe (FBI) admitted to plotting a coup (government overthrow) when he was serving in the FBI, before he was fired for lying & leaking.” @seanhannity @FoxNews Treason!

Besides quoting his shadow chief of staff, the president added “Treason!” at the end of his tweet.
The president, when he wasn’t golfing or delivering a speech fearmongering about the evils of socialism, spent much of his day complaining about McCabe on Twitter, claiming that he and Rosenstein — who is now apparently scheduled to leave office in weeks — were in cahoots to commit a “very illegal act.”
“This was the illegal and treasonous insurance policy in full action!” Trump tweeted Monday morning.
And then, at the end of the night, because we live in the dumbest of times, the president sent this tweet on McCabe:
Remember this, Andrew McCabe didn’t go to the bathroom without the approval of Leakin’ James Comey!
