Trump Gives Kanye West A Shout Out For Boosting His Poll Numbers Among African Americans
Speaking at the NRA’s annual convention on Friday, President Donald Trump took a moment to thank legendary rapper Kanye West for boosting his poll numbers among African American men.
“Kanye West must have some power,” the president told the audience. “Because as you probably saw, I doubled my African American poll numbers. We went from 11 to 22 in one week.”
The NRA crowd roared as Trump repeatedly said “thank you, Kanye.”
POTUS continued, “When I saw the numbers, I said there must be a mistake, how can that happen. Even the pollsters thought there must be a mistake.”
Trump did embellish those poll numbers a bit. While the Reuters survey he was referencing did show an increase of support from 11% to 22%, the bump was among African American men, not all black voters.
Trump’s shout out of Kanye comes as West has been going on a bit of a “red pill” odyssey in which he’s expressed his love for Trump and his “dragon energy” while posting photos of his signed MAGA cap. This has not gone unnoticed by the president, obviously, as he’s reacted to the hip-hop star’s comments on Twitter and reportedly considered inviting West to the White House.
