Donald Trump Officially Admits Obama Was Born In America But Blames Clinton For Birther Movement
Donald Trump has said that President Barack Obama was born in the United States and he blamed Hillary Clinton for starting the rumors that Obama was not born in America. Trump addressed the long-running controversy in a very brief statement in Washington, DC.
“Hillary Clinton and her campaign of 2008 started the birther controversy,” Trump said. “I finished it. I finished it. You know what I mean. President Barack Obama was born in the United States, period. Now we all want to go back to making America strong again.”
Trump took no questions and made no further statements. This is possibly the briefest address Trump has ever made. Trump’s claim that Hillary Clinton’s 2008 presidential campaign started the birther movement has no basis in reality and has been completely debunked.
In a press release last night, the Trump campaign reiterated the lie that Clinton started the conspiracy theory about Obama’s birth. “Hillary Clinton’s campaign first raised this issue to smear then-candidate Barack Obama in her very nasty, failed 2008 campaign for President. This type of vicious and conniving behavior is straight from the Clinton Playbook. As usual, however, Hillary Clinton was too weak to get an answer,” the Trump campaign said.
Donald Trump seems to think he did America a great service by forcing Obama to release his birth certificate. As recently as last year, Trump told CPAC he thought Obama’s birth certificate might be fake. Trump made his final admission that Obama is a natural born citizen after a series of military veterans praised him and complained that the US military, the largest in the world, is not big enough.
