Trump: I’m Being Sarcastic About Russian Hacking. Also, Putin’s Better Than Obama
After causing a firestorm of controversy — what else is new — after calling for Russia to hack into American servers to search for emails from Hillary Clinton, Republican nominee and Putin BFF Donald Trump went to his safe haven to insist that it was all a joke. Speaking to Fox & Friends’ Brian Kilmeade, the spray-tanned former reality TV star claimed that he was “being sarcastic” during his Wednesday morning press conference.
As you may recall, Trump pointed out that he’s never met Russian leader Vladimir Putin (despite claiming last year he did) and that allegations the Russian government is behind the DNC email leaks are just Democrats trying to distract the public. At the same time, while defending Russia’s honor, the GOP standard-bearer told Russian hackers to find Hillary’s deleted emails because they’d be rewarded.
“Russia, if you are listening, I hope you are able to find the 30,000 emails that are missing. I think you will probably be rewarded mightily by the press.”
Even while telling sanded block of wood Kilmeade that he was just joshing about wanting the U.S. to be cyber attacked, he continued to play cozy with Russia and Putin. Not only did he continue to rail about how god awful and unbelievable the DNC emails were — a handful of mean comments about Jeff Weaver and Bernie Sanders from a few staffers — he also praised Putin’s leadership ability while denigrating the President of the United States.
“I said he’s a better leader than Obama because Obama’s not a leader. He’s certainly doing a better job than Obama is, that’s all…Now look, you have to understand, Putin, If we could get along with Russia, I think that would be a good thing, not a bad thing. We don’t get along with Russia. We practically don’t get along with too many.
“You know why they do that? They have no respect for our leader. They have zero respect for our leader. That’s why they do that.”
Trump added that Russia and other countries would show the utmost respect for him if he were POTUS.
“I don’t think they’d be doing that. I don’t think they’d be doing that for one minute.”
Yes, Donald, Putin is certainly doing a better job than Obama, what with Russia’s economy tumbling amidst sanctions and low oil prices. But, when you’re in the pocket of someone, I guess you need to sing his praises from the mountaintop whenever you get a chance.
