John Kasich’s Pathetic Whimper Signifies The GOP Knows It’s Beaten On LGBT Issues
There are a few definite signs that show when a group is facing defeat and they know it. They begin to throw everything they have at the problem, including the kitchen sink. The sheer amount of bluster and insane language ramps up to a point to where they sound very much like they are in a messianic battle for the souls of the nation and its people. Then finally, someone will come out and petulantly tell their opponents to either forget about winning or to get over it.
Sure enough, we are and have been seeing all of these signs in the LGBT fight most strongly recently. North Carolina and many other very socially conservative states have and are considering passing strict anti-LGBT laws. Thankfully, businesses and people around the country are coming together to boycott these states and deprive them of what they want most, our money.
Of course, this leads to extremist presidential candidates like Lyin’ Ted Cruz. This is a man who sees himself ordained by God to be the President of United States of America, and who is supported by the most radical of anti-homophobic people this country can produce. Some of Mr. Cruz’s supporters probably would not look unkindly upon mass genocide of every gay person on the planet.
Then, of course, we come to Mr. Kasich, who tries to paint himself as a moderate in the Republican Party. It is a sham of course. Let me give you his statement first, and then point out why it’s completely un-American, and shows that the GOP knows it has already lost this battle.
“And if you feel as though somebody is doing something wrong against you, can you just, for a second, get over it, you know, because this thing will settle down.”
I really hate to swear when I write, but I think that Mr. Kasich deserves a full-throated and heartfelt fuck you from all true Americans after stating such drivel. Asking any group of Americans, whether you like them or not, to just “get over it” is like saying, if you don’t like the taxes we impose on you don’t dare fight a revolution to stop us. If you don’t like living in chains because of the color of your skin, don’t try to escape but just sit there and suffer the lashes of the whip.
How goddamned moronic do you have to be to make that sort of statement? Mr. Kasich is trying to strike a conciliatory tone, but instead is just coming across as condescending. This is also part of what he wants as well. After all, he wants to be seen as in a position of power. Unfortunately, though it may play well to his base, it will kill him with anyone who actually has a brain to reason with.
Statements like these prove to others you have lost because it sounds like you are whining. You sound like you are trying to come from a place of strength, but no one in that position would ever say something that mealy-mouthed. Instead, someone in a position of authority would just enforce their will, and no one would dare to oppose them. The very fact that a majority of the populace and business IS doing so shows that the conservative position is untenable.
The numerous bills and laws that are trying to be passed will sputter and die. The majority of the people in this country are telling you that they will not put up with your shit any longer. They will not let you discriminate against anyone because of your supposed religious beliefs. You can’t discriminate against the black men or women because of it, and you should not be able to do it to anyone else anymore either. The Bible is supposed to be a book of love and peace, not one used to hate and divide us all the time.
