Sarah Sanders Sneers At CNN’s Acosta: ‘I Know It’s Hard For You To Understand Even Short Sentences’
Over the past few days, Trumpworld has really increased its attacks on longtime Trump punching bag Jim Acosta, chastising the CNN correspondent and even calling for his press credentials to be revoked over his shouted questions at the Trump-Kim summit. (Yes, Team Trump wants to take away access to a reporter for trying to get answers from a brutal dictator.)
At today’s White House press briefing, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders — taking the podium just a day after it was reported she was eyeing an exit from the administration — decided to pile on Acosta, questioning his intelligence during a heated exchange.
The CNN reporter pressed Sanders to respond to Attorney Jeff Sessions’ recent comments in which he the AG cited the Bible to justify separating immigrant children from their parents.
“I’m not aware of the attorney general’s comments or what he would be referencing, Sanders answered. “I can say that it is very biblical to enforce the law. That is actually repeated a number of times throughout the Bible.”
As you could imagine, that remark drew a reaction from Acosta, causing him to say she was using the Bible to justify the administration’s actions.
“That’s not what I said,” Sanders sneered back. “I know it’s hard for you to understand even short sentences, I guess, and please don’t take my word out of context.”
A number of reporters gasped at Sander’s childish insult, with some vocally expressing their disgust and displeasure.
After Acosta attempted to bring it back to the substance of her comments and that she was citing the law as moral justification for separating children from parents, the press secretary parroted the president and blamed the policy on Democrats while claiming the Dems can close the loopholes leading to the separations. (This is, of course, a complete falsehood as PolitiFact noted when Trump tossed out this talking point.)
Anyway, looks like Sanders really took Trump’s tweet in which he labeled CNN as America’s “biggest enemy” to heart.
