Donald Trump Really Wants You To Know He Doesn’t Care About The Popular Vote
Donald Trump desperately wants Americans to know that he doesn’t care that he lost the popular vote to Hillary Clinton. Just days after the electoral college formally declared Trump the winner of the presidential election, the property tycoon was tweeting about his victory.
“Campaigning to win the Electoral College is much more difficult & sophisticated than the popular vote. Hillary focused on the wrong states!” Trump tweeted, despite the fact his victory was secured by surprise popular vote victories in traditionally blue states.
“I would have done even better in the election, if that is possible, if the winner was based on popular vote – but would campaign differently,” Trump said, repeating a claim that he made earlier. He has previously claimed that he could have won the popular vote if he wanted to and blamed ‘millions’ of fraudulent votes for his loss.
Trump has won the election but he seems unable to stop talking about it and offering defensive explanations for his popular vote loss. Trump also pursued a feud with former President Bill Clinton on Twitter and mocked Hillary Clinton’s campaign. Trump’s insistence that he doesn’t care about his near 3 million vote shortfall has convinced some commentators that the media coverage of Clinton’s lead is getting under his skin.
Trump is notoriously thin skinned and reacts to just about any criticism. He often uses Twitter to attack his opponents and frequently brings up old grudges. Trump appears to be spending his time rubbishing the popular vote instead of attending daily security briefings.
