Trump’s Doctor Explains His Rushed Medical Note: Trump’s Limo Was Waiting Outside
Donald Trump’s doctor has defended his note on the candidate’s health that has drawn so much criticism. The brief document was widely mocked for claiming that Trump would be the ‘healthiest individual ever elected to the presidency’. Bornstein stands by his claims but tried to explain the odd nature of his note.
“I get rushed, and I get anxious when I get rushed,” Bornstein said. “So I tried to get four or five lines down as fast as possible.” Bornstein didn’t contradict the contents of the rushed note, however. He said Trump is no more or less healthy than the average person who exercises, though that seems to walk back his statement about Trump’s extraordinary stamina.
Bornstein wrote the medical note in a rush because someone sent by Trump was waiting in a limo to collect it. This slapdash approach to something as important as a presidential candidate’s health is yet another sign that the Trump campaign is not organized.
The hyperbolic language used in the note led many media commentators, especially comedians, to think that Trump had written the note himself. Bornstein tried to explain why his words sounded so much like Trump’s. “I think I picked up his kind of language and then just interpreted it to my own,” he said.
Questions will continue to surround Trump’s health unless a full medical report is released. Trump is the first candidate in years not to release a detailed medical history.
