GOP Congressman Suggests Some Democrats Would Vote to Remove Nancy Pelosi
Republican Congressman Chip Roy claimed on Friday that some members of the House Democratic caucus would vote to remove Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Roy told Fox & Friends that an attempt to remove Pelosi would not merely be symbolic, but Fox News host Brian Kilmeade was skeptical.
“She’s blowing up the House of Representatives,” Roy said after calling for Pelosi to be removed several times over the course of the interview.
“We’re no longer the people’s house. We have proxy voting for the first time in history. She brought the impeachment to the floor without it being bipartisan, without having the actual votes to do it. She’s been making a mockery of the House of Representatives.”
“She won’t bring small business bills to the floor when we have bipartisan bills like the one I have had since June. We’ve got another one now in September. She needs to go. This isn’t just waiting until November. This isn’t just waiting until January. We need to vote her out right now.”
Kilmeade pointed out that attempting to unseat Pelosi would be symbolic because Democrats wouldn’t side with a Republican effort to remove her. But Roy persevered, claiming some Democrats to the left of Pelosi could agree with the GOP.
“If you watch some of the quotes this week there are a bunch of freshman Democrats starting to break from the Speaker,” Roy said. ”
Also we know that AOC and some of the radical left don’t like the speaker, she’s not radical enough. Let’s force them to vote. Let’s see where they stand and then in November you’re gonna know when you go to the polls who stands with Nancy Pelosi, who stands with the American people, who wants to stand up for America versus standing up for a Democratic Party that refuses to stand for law enforcement.”
