Trump Calls on Bubba Wallace to Apologize, Defends Confederate Flag
President Donald Trump has called on NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace to apologize for what he called a ‘hoax – referring to the discovery of a rope tied in a noose in Wallace’s garage. Trump also defended the Confederate flag, which NASCAR recently banned.
“Has Bubba Wallace apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX?” Trump tweeted.
Has @BubbaWallace apologized to all of those great NASCAR drivers & officials who came to his aid, stood by his side, & were willing to sacrifice everything for him, only to find out that the whole thing was just another HOAX? That & Flag decision has caused lowest ratings EVER!

“That & Flag decision has caused lowest ratings EVER!”
As The Daily Beast‘s Lachlan Markay was quick to point out, Trump is wrong about the ratings for NASCAR.

“Culture war stuff aside, NASCAR’s Xfinity Series race on Saturday was, in terms of ratings, ‘the best Xfinity race from Indianapolis in three years and up 21 percent when compared to the 2019 Xfinity average on NBC,'” Markay said, quoting a source he linked to.
Trump also recently lied about CNN’s ratings, prompting a wearied response from the network’s official Communications Twitter account.
