Michelle Malkin Gets Standing Ovation at CPAC for Shouting at ‘The Ghost of John McCain’

Conservative provocateur Michelle Malkin brought the CPAC crowd to its feet on Friday with a stemwinder of a speech laying the blame for the nation’s immigration woes at the feet of Republicans both living and dead.

Malkin tore into both parties for not having built a robust E-verify system or stopping undocumented immigration. But when it came time to name names, she had a list of Republicans to call out, telling the crowd, “And yes, I’m looking at you, retired Paul Ryan! And yes, I’m looking at you, Mitch McConnell! And yes, I’m looking at you, Bush family! And yes, I’m looking at you, the ghost of John McCain!” It earned her a standing ovation from the crowd.

John McCain? John “complete the dang fence” McCain?

Malkin’s entire speech was a xenophobic cry against immigration and a call to arms of sorts for Americans to resist it. Just in case anyone missed the point, she opened her speech by declaring her pronouns to be “U-S-A” and closed it by quoting from Lays of Ancient Rome, a series of narrative poems about events in that city’s history. The quotation Malkin read was from the first poem, Horatius, in which the hero and two friends pronounce themselves willing to die to stop outsiders from crossing a bridge into Rome to destroy it. Subtle!
