Trump Threatens To ‘Write The Real Book’ As He Attacks Bob Woodward Again
President Donald Trump took to Twitter to attack Bob Woodward’s new book Fear: Trump in the White House again today. Trump has been periodically criticizing the book and its author, claiming the account is not true and that quotes from senior White House officials are fake. But now the President has a new twist on the issue.
“The Woodward book is a Joke – just another assault against me, in a barrage of assaults, using now disproven unnamed and anonymous sources. Many have already come forward to say the quotes by them, like the book, are fiction. Dems can’t stand losing. I’ll write the real book!” Trump tweeted.
The ‘barrage of assaults’ likely refers to the recent anonymous op-ed in the New York Times and the ongoing special counsel’s investigation. However, Trump’s claim that the book has been ‘disproven’ is not credible. Though White House officials have denied the quotes, those denials were expected. Bob Woodward is one of America’s most experienced journalists and has been supported by a wide array of media figures, including his former partner at the Washington Post, Carl Bernstein. Woodward is also not a Democratic operative.
Trump’s suggestion that he may write a book will ring hollow with those familiar with his most famous book, The Art of the Deal. Trump’s ghostwriter for that book, Tony Schwartz, has repeatedly criticized the President and pointed out that Trump was not responsible for writing his book. It is also widely understood that the President does not like to read, as White House staff struggle to keep briefings simple and entertaining for him.
Shouldn’t Trump be more concerned about the country than his personal fight.
