Candace Owens: Maybe The NYT Wrote The Anonymous Op-Ed
Speculation is still rampant about the author of an anonymous New York Times op-ed, with denials from White House officials and theories appearing online. But Fox News contributor Candace Owens has a theory of her own. Speaking on the pro-Trump network, Owens suggested that the NYT had written the article and there was no source in the administration.
“How do we know it’s not just the New York Times publishing that?” Owens asked on Steve Hilton’s show. Hilton immediately intervened, saying he could not believe that.
Another guest, Dana Perino, seemed surprised at the suggestion and dismissed Owens’ idea.
“How do we know it’s not just the NY Times publishing that?” Perino said.
“How do we know? That’s all I’m saying, how do we know?” Owens replied, while Perino suggested the author might be some undersecretary.
“But we don’t know, there’s no transparency,” Owens said. “There’s no transparency whatsoever. It’s anonymous.”
Owens questioned whether anyone in the White House had written the article, implying it could be a fraud.
Owens did not directly accuse the NYT of lying about the op-ed, but her suggestion will please President Donald Trump and his supporters, who have tried to dismiss the article as ‘fake news’. However, reports from the White House show that the administration is working hard to find the writer.
