Trump Joked That North Korean State TV Anchor Should Work For American Media
You know the woman who anchors North Korea’s state-run TV? The one who normally wears pink and passionately announces the regime’s propaganda?
Well, the president would apparently love for her to work here in the states.
In a new report by the Washington Post providing some behind-the-scenes details on the historic Singapore summit between North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un and President Trump, sources said that the president remarked on Ri Chun-hee’s ability to fawn over the North Korean leader. And he compared her to Fox News.
From the Post’s article:
“At one point, after watching North Korean television, which is entirely state-run, the president talked about how positive the female North Korean news anchor was toward Kim, according to two people familiar with his remarks. He joked that even the administration-friendly Fox News was not as lavish in its praise as the state TV anchor, one of the people added, and that maybe she should get a job on U.S. television, instead.”
Sure, this is worth a chuckle and all But it should be noted that while the president was heaping praise upon a totalitarian regime’s propaganda operation and noting that NoKo’s most well-known mouthpiece should work in American media, he was also complaining about the media back home and describing it as America’s “biggest enemy.”
