Sarah Sanders: I Should Be Trusted Because My ‘Credibility’s Probably Higher Than The Media’s’
For the second consecutive day, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders refused to explain the false and contradictory statements she gave to the press last year regarding President Donald Trump’s role in drafting a misleading statement on Donald Trump Jr’s involvement in a 2016 Trump Tower meeting with a Russian lawyer.
After telling reporters on Monday that she wouldn’t get into a “back and forth” and referred to the president’s legal counsel regarding the disclosure that Trump dictated the initial Don Jr. response, Sanders pretty much did the same thing on Tuesday. In one instance, the press secretary responded to one reporter’s question on her trustworthiness by taking a bitter and childish shot at the media in general.
“If things that you keep saying from the podium turn out to not be true and things the president keeps saying in a number of venues keep turning out not to be true,” reporter Andrew Feinberg stated. “Why should we be able to trust that the information we’re getting from this administration is accurate and, more importantly, why should Americans be able to trust that what they hear from this white house is always the truth?”
Sanders angrily retorted by complaining that she had to address this too many times already before claiming that she works “every single day to give you accurate and up-to-day information.”
“I’m going to continue to do that,” she added. “Frankly, I think my credibility’s probably higher than the media’s. I think in large part that’s because you guys spend more of your time focused on attacking the president instead of reporting the news.”
She continued on with her whinefest, saying that if the press spent “more time reporting the news instead of trying to tear me down,” they might see that she and the administration are “working hard to provide you good information and trying to provide that same good information to the American people.”

I saw a poll today indicating that her approval rating–and who knew they had approval ratings for press secretaries?–is 30%, lower than Melania, who’s somewhere just shy of 50%, tRump, who’s hovering in the low 40s, and Mike Pence. I guess her snarky condescension isn’t endearing her to the American people.
