Joe Scarborough Mocks GOP’s Hillary Obsession: They’ll Still Be Blaming Her in 2070
MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough mocked Republicans’ ongoing obsession with Hillary Clinton and the Trump campaign’s attempt to run against her again on Friday. The Morning Joe host joked that his former party would never drop attacks on the 2016 Democratic nominee.
Scarborough pointed to the Wall Street Journal accusing Democrats of freaking out that President Donald Trump has refused to commit to a peaceful transition of power while also criticizing him for it. Scarborough saw evidence of a failed tactic.
“Willie [Geist], oh my God. It’s like Democrats talked about Herbert Hoover for 50 years after Herbert Hoover was president,” he said.
“Poor, poor Hillary Clinton. Long after we are gone the three remaining Republicans who were elected to dog catcher in rural Mississippi will be blaming the outbreak of the common tick on Hillary Clinton in 2070. It is really sad and pathetic. It also explains — we’re going to show some polls, Willie. It also explains why this party is getting beaten so badly right now with a month before the election.”
Geist pointed to polling favorable to Democrats showing former Vice President Joe Biden tied with Trump in states that were not expected to be swinging away from Republicans in this cycle.
“But if you look state by state swing states and states that Democrats probably long ago didn’t think were swing states getting tied in some cases there’s reason for concern,” Geist said. “You’re right. They’re going back to Hillary Clinton. They want Hillary Clinton to be the nominee. They’re trying to pin this on Hillary Clinton this talk about elections. It’s amazing.”
