Fox News Struggles to Cope with Its Own Reporting as Trump Wants Reporter Fired
Fox News’ hosts are having a difficult time coping with the fact that one of their reporters confirmed much of the recent claims about President Donald Trump’s disparagement of the military. On Fox & Friends Saturday, host Jedediah Bila acknowledged that the network’s Jennifer Griffin had confirmed part of The Atlantic story.
Co-host Pete Hegseth characteristically dismissed the claims but Bila was more circumspect, pointing to Griffin’s professionalism.
“I will say that having our own Jennifer Griffin who’s one of the best reporters I know independently verifying some of that information, not all of it but some of it, with her own sources does give me pause,” Bila said.
“I don’t feel comfortable today saying, oh it’s 100 percent not true and I don’t feel comfortable in the same breath saying it 100 percent is true. Because we just don’t know. There may be more details that emerge. With that being said, yes, the author of the article is biased. No question. You look at the headlines no, question but that doesn’t change for me the reality that some of this reporting may in fact be reality.”
Hegseth attempted to claim that Atlantic editor Jeffrey Goldberg’s bias invalidated the article but Bila again pointed to Griffin’s reporting. Her position is understandable. The network’s hosts have been unflinching in their support for the President but one of their own reporters confirmed the allegations against Trump on Friday.
Jennifer Griffin of Fox News Did Not Confirm ‘Most Salacious‘ Part of Atlantic Story https://t.co/rUpbSWhHac via @BreitbartNews All refuted by many witnesses. Jennifer Griffin should be fired for this kind of reporting. Never even called us for comment. @FoxNews is gone!

Trump called for Griffin to be fired following her reporting and attacked Fox: “ All refuted by many witnesses. Jennifer Griffin should be fired for this kind of reporting. Never even called us for comment. Fox News is gone!”
The network’s personalities now find themselves in an awkward position where their loyalty to the President clashes with their own reporting.
