Al Sharpton: Trump’s ‘Cult Worshipers’ Are in Charge of the U.S. Government
Reverend Al Sharpton has said members of President Donald Trump’s cult are now running the United States. Sharpton made the comments to MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough on Friday following the conclusion of the Republican National Convention.
Scarborough, a Morning Joe co-host, pointed out that for Republicans, the truth is now whatever Trump says it is. Sharpton agreed and laid out what he saw as the problem of Trump’s cult of personality in stark terms.
“I think this week showed that the Republican Party as we’ve known it, whether we’ve been part of it or those opposed to it has gone from a political party to a cult of personality,” Sharpton said.
“We no longer have a Republican platform or party, policies, we no longer have a set of ideas and a set of policies that they want to enact. We are guided by a personality who has made a bunch of cult worshipers the party leaders and the members of the cabinet. The danger is they are in charge of the U.S. government.”
“To see one of the two major parties in this country reduced to a cult around a person that changes their mind and their stories any moment is at real, real levels of high danger. ”
