Fox’s Kristin Fisher: Trump Campaign Will Say Coronavirus Left Them ‘Little Choice’ But to Violate the Hatch Act
Fox News’ Kristin Fisher briefly mentioned potential Hatch Act violations during a report on Thursday. Despite serious concerns and major criticism of possible breaches of the law against federal officials participating in political events, Fisher offered the Trump campaign’s apparent explanation.
“Well, standing here on the South lawn of the White House, I’m struck by just what it took to get here. Remember, President Trump was supposed to be speaking tonight down in Charlotte,” Fisher told Fox & Friends.
“Then Jacksonville, then we didn’t really know where. And then now, in such a short period of time they have been able to put together one of the most elaborate setups if not the most elaborate setup that;s ever been built on
these historic grounds.”
“Now Democrats will say this is all a violation of the Hatch Act. But the Trump campaign will say hey, the Coronavirus left us little choice. Plus, President Trump does live here,” she offered.
That explanation will cut little ice with Democrats or good government groups who may file lawsuits following the Republican National Convention’s use of government property.
