Fox’s Brian Kilmeade: ‘Every Day I Have to Prove I’m Cognitively Ready for Three Hours’
Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade joked on Thursday that his three hours on Fox & Friends are a test of his cognitive abilities – something that may come as a surprise to some of his critics. Kilmeade and guest host Pete Hegseth joked about cognitive testing as the Trump campaign pushes to make it an issue.
“Brian, did you take a test before today’s show?” Hegseth asked, jokingly.
“Yes,” Kilmeade said. “Every day I have to prove I’m cognitively ready for three hours.”
“Hopefully today I will not let you down,” he said.
The Fox & Friends hosts are making light of an issue that President Donald Trump and his team are trying to make a major campaign issue. Trump has bragged about passing a test designed to detect dementia and Alzheimer’s and his surrogates have tried to goad former Vice President Joe Biden into taking it.
Biden has categorically refused, ridiculing the idea in a recent interview.
“No, I haven’t taken a test. Why the hell would take a test?” Biden said.
“That’s like saying, ‘You — before you got on this program you took a test where you’re taking cocaine or not, what do you think? Huh? Are you a junkie?”
