Fox Business’ Stuart Varney Seems to Seriously Consider Delaying the Election
Fox Business host Stuart Varney appeared to approve of the idea of delaying the election on Thursday following President Donald Trump’s tweet floating the idea. Varney seemed to agree with Trump about the drawbacks of mail-in ballots during a conversation with Republican Senator John Barrasso.
The Wyoming senator explained to Varney that the election would take place on 3 November, but the Fox Business host put in and strongly hinted his approval of a postponement.
“Hold it. Mr. Senator, I do apologize for interrupting you but if we have mail-in balloting the way it’s scheduled now, there is absolutely no way you will get an election result on election night or even in the first few days,” Varney said.
“That means confusion and endless challenges. That is a mess.”
“What do you think? Delay the election?”
Barrasso again repeated that the election would not be delayed but Varney continued to push the idea that mail-in ballots would cause problems because they can’t be counted as quickly as traditional ballots – this is similar to issues Trump has raised.
“It’s a mess, Senator,” Varney said.
Barrasso was consistent, however.
“We have been focused and working making sure elections are secure and we will get results. It’s going to take a while, I believe that it will. We may not know on election night the balance of the House of Representatives or the Senate or the presidency,” he said.
“But we will not delay the election.”
