‘Fox & Friends’: How Many Secret Trump Voters Are There?
The hosts of Fox & Friends speculated on Thursday about an underground vote for President Donald Trump in the November election. Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade, Steve Doocy and guest host Jedediah Bila pointed to a recent Monmouth poll that asked about secret Trump voters.
However, the poll showed only that some people believed there were secret Trump voters. It did not prove there were people supporting the President who wouldn’t say so publicly. As such, the results indicate a frame of mind among voters rather than a real hidden voter base.
“If people who believe that Donald Trump will be successful, they talk about a secret vote. The underground vote,” Kilmeade said.
“Because if you wear a red hat or put a bumper sticker on your car, you’re open to derision, maybe physical attacks. So people keep their mouth shut and they want to go into the voting booth and they gotta make their decision. So what do the polls say about a so-called secret vote for Donald Trump that will not appear in any polls? Well, this appeared in a poll.”
“When asked, are there secret voters who support Trump? Trump’s secret voters 27%. If you have a secret about Joe Biden, only 5% are keeping it,” he said.
“There’s a lot of people who believe there is underground support for the President of the United States because it’s not a popular thing for him to — for people to walk around in many circles and say, yeah, I support him.”
“You know, Brian, when you look at that particular graphic, though, when you add up the number of people who say do you think there is a secret voter? Yes, many, yes, only a few, yes, not sure how many. That total is close to 60% saying yes there are Trump secret voters,” Doocy said.
The hosts went on to wonder “How many secret voters are there?” despite little actual evidence a shy Trump vote even exists.
