Mika Brzezinski: Trump Is ‘Putting American People’s Lives at Risk’ with ‘Trail of Germs’
MSNBC’s Mika Brzezinski warned that President Donald Trump is endangering Americans’ lived by insisting on holding rallies. The Morning Joe host pointed to Trump’s recent event in Tulsa, Oklahoma and another set to take place in Phoenix, Arizona today.
Brzezinski quoted Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, who called on everybody attending the Trump event to wear masks – including the President, before turning to AP’s Jonathan Lemire to discuss the issue.
“Jonathan Lemire, I’m wondering if you can, first of all, back up a little bit because I’ve seen a lot of controversy on Twitter,” Brzezinski said.
“The President and his wall and the way different media outlets are covering it. He wants a certain story out there about his wall. Not sure he’s gonna get it.”
Trump is celebrating the 200th mile of the U.S.-Mexico border wall, despite the fact the border is some 2,000 miles long.
“But then also the safety issue,” Brzezinski went on. “The trail of germs left in Tulsa after 6,200 people crammed into the lower seats of a convention center is gonna be bad enough. And now he’s hopscotching across the country, sending a signal that masks are a bad idea. This President constantly is putting American people’s lives at risk as he demands their presence.”
Arizona has been hard hit by Covid-19, while even Fox News recently questioned the wisdom of Trump’s Tulsa rally.
