Fox’s Brian Kilmeade: Seattle Protesters ‘Essentially Want to Secede from the United States’
Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade claimed on Tuesday that protesters in Seattle want to leave the U.S. The Fox News host made the rather serious charge as part of ongoing conservative criticism of a police-free zone created by the protesters, which has been almost entirely peaceful.
Kilmeade began by discussing police reform in New York before launching into criticism of CHAZ – the area of Seattle where protesters have set up.
“Let’s go talk about the autonomous zone. And let’s talk about this – the embarrassment which is happening in these seven blocks in Seattle that’s got major cities concerned that had them react quickly to make sure this wouldn’t happen to them, places like Portland and Nashville.”
“This continues to be a place in which they make up their own rules. They essentially want to secede from the United States of America and make up their own rules, have free college and everything else. Their demands are all over the map.”
“And to the embarrassment of many in law enforcement, their chief has been told abandon the precinct and they did. And they now say in that zone they will never make that a precinct again. Don’t tell that to Police Chief Best. Their goal is to get back inside. Even though they could do it in about nine seconds, politicians, the liberal politicians will not allow that to happen.”
The charge of attempted secession from the U.S. is a major accusation, drawing as it does inevitable comparison with the Confederate States of America and the long and bloody war that was fought to keep those states in the Union.
