Fox News’ Doctor: ‘If We’re Gonna Have Protests, We Have to Be Able to Have Rallies’
Fox News’ Dr. Marc Siegel argued on Tuesday that if people can protest against the death of George Floyd, President Donald Trump showed be able to hold his rallies. His comments come as serious concerns have been raised about an upcoming Trump rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The Fox News medical contributor told Fox & Friends host Ainsley Earhardt that if protests can go ahead, so can election rallies.
“Talk about how they’re gonna prepare to make sure Covid circulate. They said they’re doing temperature checks at the door, they’re gonna pass out hand sanitizer and masks to everyone in attendance. Is that enough?” Earhardt said.
“That’s a really good thing, Ainsley,” Siegel said. “I will point out something you didn’t ask me. Protests across the United States have not yet shown an uptick of cases. Minneapolis just studied this and did not find an uptick of cases.”
“So if we’re gonna have protests, we certainly can have rallies. And the state of Oklahoma only had 185 new cases in the entire state yesterday. So I think that’s a good choice of states. I think the mask and hand sanitizers are a good idea. I would add if there is a way to build in some social distancing which you know I’m a big fan of.”
“It’s very hard to do that at rallies but that should be something we should at least keep in mind. We can’t have this both ways. If we’re gonna have protests, we have to be able to have rallies.”
