Fox News Guest: ‘The Real Issue’ with Racial Disparity ‘Goes Back to Fatherlessness’
Fox News guest Jack Brewer claimed on Friday that racial disparities in the U.S. can be blamed on a lack of fathers in the African American community. Brewer made the long-discredited claim on Fox & Friends while also offering praise of President Donald Trump.
Brewer said he was pleased with what he heard at a round-table event in Dallas on Thursday.
“You have to take on the challenges of healthcare and criminal justice and education,” he said. “And I think that’s what the White House is trying to do.”
“You know, waiting to seat final details of the plan, but I can tell you that the Spirit was there, and, you know, no one was running from the realities that we face today in America. Racial disparities and the oppressed in certain communities, really need some systematic changes.”
Brewer went on to repeat an old cliché about absent fathers in the black community. This trope has no basis in reality.
“You know, the real issue behind a lot of these racial disparities, Ainsley, it goes back to fatherlessness,” Brewer said.
“There’s so many that don’t have fathers. You’re five times more likely to go to prison or have a run-in with law enforcement if you don’t have a father in the home.”
“So I’m really big on trying to promote fatherhood and get rid of those system systematic things that discourage folks from building that family unit. I think that’s really important. I told the President that yesterday and it was well-received.”
