Fox’s Brian Kilmeade Wonders if Closing California Beaches Was to Hurt ‘Conservative Enclaves’
Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade speculated on Friday about beach closures in California. Governor Gavin Newsom closed the beaches as part of restrictions to tackle Coronavirus. Speaking to Florida Senator Rick Scott, Kilmeade suggested the move was aimed at conservatives in the state.
“So, Senator, regarding the beaches of Florida, you know, looking at what Gavin Newsom has been trying to do out there, after it was a beautiful day and everybody and their brother went out to the beaches last weekend,” co-host Steve Doocy said.
“That could be a problem in Florida as well how do you make sure what happened in California does not happen in the Sunshine State?”
Scott said he believed there would be social distancing.
“I think that’s what people are gonna do all across the state of Florida,” he said. “I’ve been talking to the county commissioners and the sheriffs. And they know that their citizens want to get back there I think they are gonna do it in a safe manner.”
“By the way, if you look at some of those photos from California, they did a great job on staying apart from each other,” Kilmeade said.
“But let’s move this story forward and that seems to be punitive. Does it matter that that’s a conservative enclave in California? I’m not sure that didn’t play a role. We will see.”
