Fox News Guest Says Obama Endorsing Biden Now Is ‘Not a Leadership Position’ But a ‘Backfire’
Fox News guest Tony Katz downplayed former President Barack Obama’s endorsement of Joe Biden on Wednesday. The radio host told Fox & Friends’ Ainsley Earhardt that the former Vice President’s real problem was Bernie Sanders voters.
“Do you think this is gonna help unite the party?” Earhardt asked.
“No. Unfortunately, I don’t think President Obama has, for Democrats, the fire power that he used to have,” Katz said.
“And to give an endorsement now when it’s all said and done? That’s not a leadership position. That’s not staking your claim. And that’s, you know, I think that’s a bit of a backfire for the former president.”
“I think the bigger question will be can Joe Biden get Bernie supporters to support him and you see him tacking more and more to the left and telling Bernie Sanders how I’m gonna need your help in governing, things like that. The Bernie Sanders supporter is a true believer, right?”
“They believe in what Bernie Sanders has put forth and made part of the Democratic Party. So for them to even go for what they consider to be a moderate Joe Biden is a very difficult pullover. Bernie might be able to help that happen, Barack Obama doesn’t help that part happen in terms of bringing together the Democratic Party. It’s just not enough.”
